ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER THE PRESS CONFERENCE HELD AT THE SEAT OF THE NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION (NEC) IN WARSAW

 

 

On 23 October 2005, at  8.10 p.m. a press conference on the second round of voting in the Elections for the President of the Republic of Poland was held at the seat of the National Electoral Commission in Warsaw at. Ul. Wiejska.

The following participated in the conference:

            Member of NEC                                                         Judge Andrzej Kisielewicz

                                                                     

            and

            Head of the National Electoral Office              Minister Kazimierz Czaplicki

 

 

 

Deputy Chairman of NEC Judge Jan Kacprzak summarized the course of the elections and said that there were 6 thefts of flags, 2 burglaries into the schools where the polling stations were seated, some persons under the influence of alcohol appeared at the polling stations and one situation where eggs were thrown at the commission and the polling station.

In Wałbrzych, a 16-year-old was apprehended who was caused a false bomb alarm at one of the polling stations.

The Judge also mentioned agitation on the Internet.

NEC officially thanked the Police, i.e. approx. 9900 officers for their excellent performance during the elections.

 

Jan Kacprzak also informed the journalists that at approx. 11.00 p.m. unofficial results of the elections in the first 10 % of the precincts would be provided. Announcement of the official results of the election is planned for 2.00 p.m. on Monday and will take place at the Column Hall of the Parliament.
